Man breaks Switch 2 after spray painting Donkey Kong Bananza to mimic N64 cart

One day, a fellow named Gardner accidentally shattered his Nintendo Switch 2 following his choice to paint-over his Donkey Kong Bananza replica with the same hue as old-school Donkey Kong titles.

In the era when most video game consoles relied on cartridges for their power source, creators had the freedom to experiment with their visual designs.

Instead of using standard cartridges, Nintendo chose to package their games such as Donkey Kong 64 (for the Nintendo 64) and DK Land (for the Game Boy), in distinctive yellow cases, setting them apart on store shelves.

To give his fresh Bananza game for Switch a similar appearance to earlier series versions, the TikToker took apart the cartridge and painted it yellow instead.

He mentioned that if you examine Donkey Kong Lands and Donkey Kong 64, you’ll notice they come in vivid yellow game cartridges. Interestingly, he finds it hard to enjoy Bananza because when he plays it on his Switch, he uses a red cartridge instead.

After disassembling the Switch 2 game cartridge to divide the casing from the game itself, he protected the label using tape to prevent it from getting painted over. As he inserted it back into the console, though, complications arose.

Oh no, it appears to be jammed,” he remarked. “I’m unable to insert it properly. Unfortunately, it seems too large for the console now, so I won’t be able to use it today.

A short while after uploading the video, Gardner remarked in a comment that indeed, the game was jammed within his Nintendo Switch 2.

Later on, Gardner tried to retrieve the game from his freshly launched console, unfortunately making the predicament more complicated instead.

He mentioned that something was completely jammed within his Nintendo Switch. Just before he attempted to remove it, he reached for pliers. In a moment of distress, he then admitted that he had accidentally cracked the game cartridge.

It wasn’t the first instance for a new Nintendo Switch 2 owner that things didn’t turn out as expected. In fact, back in June, a person purchased a second-hand console, but later discovered that it had been blacklisted by Nintendo and couldn’t be used.
