Man beaten and robbed of $5K Charizard Pokemon card after parking lot trade goes wrong

A 38-year-old individual, who had planned a trade for his valuable Charizard Pokemon card, ended up getting assaulted and losing his $5,000 collectible in the process.

Back in 1999, every kid’s heart yearned for the holographic Charizard Pokémon card. Even today, owning one still sparks excitement among collectors like me.

Although it wasn’t as valuable as a rare, $420,000 PSA 10 shadowless first edition, an Australian man attempted to sell his PSA 9 Charizard. However, he received an unwelcome shock instead.

As stated by ABC, the man had planned to meet at a parking lot for a card exchange at 10:45 PM on March 28. Unfortunately, he was attacked during this encounter.

Man assaulted trying to trade Charizard Pokemon card

According to Kotaku, the seller ended up getting mugged by the individual he planned to meet, and the thief made off with his card during the encounter.

On X, the New South Wales Police Force posted about an event on their Twitter account, using Pokemon-themed language and a fuzzy, indistinct picture of a vehicle that seemed to have left the area.

It seems Team Rocket isn’t the only one causing chaos; we’ve got an image of a red 2023 Ford Mustang with grey stripes spotted in the area, and we think the driver might have crucial information that could aid us in apprehending them, or at least the individual who’s been creating mayhem.

As it turns out, I’m not the only one stirring up some trouble lately. Recently, a precious Pokémon card, worth a whopping $8000, went missing during a trade in Warilla last month. Authorities are on the case, and they’ve released an image of a 2023 Ford Mustang, distinctly red with grey stripes, that was spotted in the vicinity around the time of the theft. Keep your eyes peeled, fellow trainers!

It’s not clear who took the photo of the car, but it’s all police have to go off at the moment.

It’s not unheard of for an individual seller to experience an attack when attempting to trade cards. For instance, back in the year 2022, a band of Pokemon card thieves in France ambushed a man with guns and made off with his valuable collection, which was worth a staggering $15,000.
