At a convention center, an individual was apprehended and escorted away due to accusations of unlawfully obtaining Pokemon cards and various collectibles.
As a passionate fan, I personally witnessed an intriguing event unfold during a card show in the vibrant city of Pasadena, Los Angeles. Several fellow enthusiasts captured on video the arrest and subsequent eviction of an individual from the venue.
A video uploaded to the r/PokemonTCG forum showed police officers confronting a man believed to have stolen trading cards from vendors during the convention.
In a heated moment, I found myself resisting apprehension. One officer attempted to convey something incomprehensible to me, to which I responded, “I didn’t take it. Wait just a moment, sir.” Persisting with my resistance, they eventually managed to bring me down, intending to cuff me.

In a different video of the event shared on Facebook by Poke Streetz, it appears that one of the officers is filmed rummaging through a bag owned by the man, along with a vendor, taking out several cards and assorted objects.
Simultaneously, a few more policemen grabbed the suspect, one by the arms and the other by the legs, and they took him out of the main hall. The crowd clapped as the man was taken away from the venue.
Hot property
The theft of Pokemon cards has grown significantly, mainly because of the increasing interest and popularity surrounding this pastime.
Besides single cards often being valued at several thousand dollars upon grading by firms like PSA and Beckett, the rarity of unopened products, including those from recent launches, has significantly increased their selling prices in the market.
Last year in 2025, it was disheartening to learn about numerous instances of Pokemon card thieves targeting retail stores. In one such unfortunate incident, a family-owned business shared they were devastated when cards valued at an astonishing $100k were stolen from their store.
