What’s the complete account behind the story that’s spreading rapidly, claiming a man was financially exploiting his girlfriend because of an excessive fondness for soup?
Among unusual internet tales, this one ranks quite high, being rather uncommon compared to most you’ll come across.
On January 5, Twitter/X user Moniza Hossain posted:
As I uncover more details about this man who exploits his girlfriend financially to support his frequent soup consumption, my frustration grows. It seems that when he resided with his parents, he rarely had soup, but since moving in with her, he has been eating it much more frequently at her expense.

This sparked many queries as the tweet rapidly gained popularity, and above everything else, it left people puzzled about the concept of “financially abusing” a partner because of their love for soup.
The situation can be traced back to a Reddit thread on the widely-used ‘AmItheAsshole’ forum, where individuals share their ethical quandaries to seek validation about their actions.
This specific situation involves a person sharing that their partner on the autism spectrum dislikes tomatoes intensely, yet adores a pricier, locally renowned dish that is not soup, but rather a hearty stew.
After placing an order for $400 worth of stew, an idea struck me to inquire from the chef about any tomato ingredients in the dish as we were picking up our order. To my surprise, there indeed was tomato in the recipe – specifically tomato paste. I thought this discovery would be welcomed since it might make him realize that tomato paste isn’t so terrible after all and accept it. However, the opposite happened; he was far from pleased with the inclusion of tomato paste in his original perfect stew.
He left the restaurant without saying a word, refused to eat the stew that evening and hasn’t requested it since. Ever since then, he’s been acting moody, ignoring me, wandering around the house with a whiny tone, and slamming things. His sister even texted me, accusing me of being selfish for denying him his favorite food as some sort of revenge.
AITA for accidentally ruining my autistic boyfriends safe food

The majority of comments agree with the original poster, finding it extremely expensive at $47 for a bowl of stew.
Some began to doubt if they were willing to endure such conduct throughout their future, casting uncertainty over the entirety of their relationship.
Much like several discussions on this forum, questions about the truthfulness of the tale arise since there’s no evidence supporting it, yet it undeniably stirs emotions among users in various ways.
