Production has begun on a documentary about Hollywood blonde bombshell Mamie Van Doren.
Title Change Suggestion: “Unveiling Mamie Van Doren: A Journey Through Hollywood’s Golden Era and Beyond”
This new title maintains the intrigue of the original while providing a more natural and easy-to-read feel. It also implies that the biographical film will delve into Van Doren’s life beyond her career in Hollywood, encompassing both her professional and personal experiences.
Van Doren is serving as an executive producer for this project. The producers are a trio consisting of Alan Eichler, Stephen Israel, and Marc Saltarelli; not only do they produce, but Saltarelli also directs the film. This team previously worked together on the acclaimed 2024 documentary “Studio One Forever.
Throughout my entire life, I’ve been very private, but at 94 years old, I’ve chosen to break free from the norm and expose personal details, hidden truths, and previously untold experiences from my extraordinary life as the last surviving Hollywood blonde bombshell,” Van Doren stated. “Marc Saltarelli and his gifted team are ideal caretakers of my documentary biography. We will jointly unveil and honor a captivating, entertaining, and indelible journey of my life.
Born on a farm in South Dakota lacking electricity and running water, Joan Olander (later known as Van Doren) reached the peak of fame during the glamorous Hollywood era of the 1950s and 60s. Van Doren, one of the “Three M’s” alongside Mamie, Marilyn Monroe, and Jayne Mansfield, rode the wave of the “blonde bombshell” trend, with only she surviving to the age of 94. Initially marketed as Universal’s counterpart to Monroe, Van Doren established her unique space, becoming the first woman to perform rock-and-roll on screen in iconic teenage cult films such as “Running Wild” with Bill Haley, “High School Confidential” with Jerry Lee Lewis, “Untamed Youth” with Eddie Cochran, “Sex Kittens Go to College” and “Girls Town” with Paul Anka.
At the moment, Van Doren is penning her third autobiography. Back in 2024, she teamed up with the orchestral band Pink Martini to release a single titled “I told ya I love ya, now get out!” on Heinz Records.
Van Doren is repped by Alan Nevins of Renaissance Literary & Talent Agency.
