Magic: The Gathering reveals Sonic the Hedgehog Secret Lair collab

Hasbro recently introduced a fresh collaboration between Magic: The Gathering and SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog, featuring three unique Secret Lair releases that draw inspiration from Sonic and his renowned world.

On July 14, 2025, the newest crossover product will be available for purchase. This special release, part of the Secret Lair x Sonic the Hedgehog series, brings a fresh take on classic Magic: The Gathering cards, featuring distinctive artwork themed around Sonic the Hedgehog. Notably, this collection will introduce fan-loved Sonic artists to the Magic community for the first time.

In this latest development, Magic: The Gathering is collaborating again on a prestigious level, having previously partnered with franchises such as Fallout, Final Fantasy, and Jurassic Park. With Sonic the Hedgehog now part of the team, players can anticipate even more excitement, appeal, and crossover opportunities in their upcoming decks.

In the initial release, titled “Friends & Foes”, you’ll encounter fresh card designs showcasing characters like Sonic, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Tails, Shadow, Dr. Eggman, and Super Sonic, each exhibiting distinctive Magic abilities and artwork.

Following up is the game “Chase the Thrill,” offering a new perspective on classic Magic elements. In this release, you’ll find redesigned versions of cards such as Sol Ring, Generous Gift, and Deadly Dispute, all centered around Sonic’s high-speed environment.

Completing the three-piece collection is Turbo Gear, an assortment reminiscent of Sonic’s art style, which complements the Friends & Foes set exceptionally well. Notable items include The Reaver Cleaver, dubbed as “Knuckles’ Gloves,” Lightning Greaves, known as “Power Sneakers,” and Weatherlight, reimagined as “Tornado, Sonic’s Biplane.

For a short period, each version – regular and special foil editions – of this collaboration will be up for grabs. So, if you’re keen on snagging one when it hits the shelves on July 14, you’ll need to move as swiftly as the speedy blue character!
