Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Cards Leak After Some Were Apparently Sent Overseas Early

As a devoted fan, I can hardly contain my excitement as we’ve just wrapped up the pre-release events for Magic: The Gathering’s next set, Tarkir: Dragonstorm. Yet, before we even get a chance to fully immerse ourselves in that, there’s already a swell of anticipation building around the next set – Magic’s collaboration with Final Fantasy! It seems Wizards of the Coast is just as enthusiastic, judging by the leaked images of cards from the upcoming set that have popped up on Reddit. Apparently, some products were shipped to Brazil a bit prematurely.

A user on Reddit (username undisclosed) shared pictures to the MTGRumors subreddit that appear to be from the Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Starter Set. This set offers two pre-constructed decks and a guide for new players who want to learn how to play MTG. While Cloud and Sephiroth, the main cards of the two decks, were already unveiled earlier, these recent Reddit images are said to display all the contents included in the starter set package.

The Reddit post showcases several characters known to Final Fantasy enthusiasts: The Cloud deck showcases Freya, Steiner, Beatrix (from Final Fantasy IX), G’raha Tia (from Final Fantasy XIV), and Barret Wallace (from Final Fantasy VII. On the other hand, the Sephiroth deck boasts Ultimecia (from Final Fantasy VIII), Xande (from Final Fantasy III), and Seymour Flux (from Final Fantasy X). Some iconic scenes from the Final Fantasy universe are depicted in these cards as well, with a memorable instance being the popular “suplex a train” meme from Final Fantasy VI.

Among the various offerings within the Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy collection is the Starter Set. This assortment will also encompass pre-built Commander decks, standard and collector booster packs, as well as several bundles. The initial release of cards officially hit the market in February, with a significant unveiling scheduled for a PAX East panel on May 10.

Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy will debut in local game shops and large retailers on June 13. Pre-release events for this game will start at local game stores from June 6.
