Caution: Major plot revelations for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, episode 1!
A recently released trailer for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 reveals that Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) will be on opposing sides in an impending war over Manhattan. The events of Dead City season 2 have set the stage for the upcoming episodes, with Maggie joining forces with the New Babylon Federation to investigate the methane being exploited by the Dama (Lisa Emery) and her followers. In contrast, Negan is compelled to gather Manhattan’s remaining survivor groups together to fight against New Babylon, as he discovers that his wife, Annie, has fallen into the hands of the Dama.
Currently, AMC, through WotNot, has unveiled a fresh trailer for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, providing glimpses of what’s to come. In the trailer, we witness Maggie and Perlie (Gaius Charles) making their way to Manhattan, while Negan and the Croat (Željko Ivanek) strategize about the unfolding circumstances. As the Dama assembles her troops, Brugel (Kim Coates) seems to have his own agendas. Finally, a vast army of New Babylon soldiers is depicted marching through the streets of New York City.
Notable moments also feature Maggie orchestrating a theft from the Dama’s methane stockpile and encountering two individuals whose throats she slashes, while Negan oversees his group launching gasoline barrels at an incoming vessel. The main pair seems destined for a confrontation in the heart of the turmoil as hinted by another scene. For a closer look, watch the entire trailer below:

What Dead City Season 2’s New Trailer Says About The Upcoming Episodes
Maggie & Negan’s War Is Far From Simple
In my perspective, it seems that the upcoming season hints at a potential renewal of conflict between Maggie and Negan, despite the ending of Dead City Season 1 suggesting a possible redemption for him. This could imply significant developments within both groups prior to their reunion, which may further widen the rift between them. Yet, it’s also clear that they are both aware of the hostile nature of their respective factions. The Dama is seen trying to coerce Manhattan’s groups into aligning with her, while New Babylon appears to be executing those who attempt to evade conscription.
In light of the series consistently showing that both parties harbor harmful intentions, it appears that another encounter between Maggie and Negan could provide valuable insight into their ongoing conflict. Meanwhile, as other characters in Dead City are preoccupied with methane, the deep-rooted relationship between these two characters, which spans over a decade, introduces an additional dimension to the storyline. Whether they can set aside their differences and team up to confront the challenges of the city ahead is yet to be determined.
Our Take On Dead City Season 2’s Newest Trailer
New York City Will Never Be The Same
Given that New Babylon is advancing towards Manhattan, led by an army, the best chance for its various factions to endure is by uniting under Negan and Dama’s leadership. Yet, Bruegel appears to be hatching separate plans, while Maggie assumes a crucial position after demonstrating her value in the Federation during the season opener. With only seven episodes left until their groups potentially clash, it remains uncertain how The Walking Dead: Dead City’s broader conflict will intersect with their eventual reunion.
New episodes of The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 arrive Sundays on AMC and AMC+.
