2K Publisher and developer Hangar 13 appear to be announcing the release date of Mafia: The Old Country, which is scheduled to come out on August 8 for personal computers (PC), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
According to Gematsu’s report, both 2K and Hangar 13 accidentally revealed their plans for PAX East 2025 in a Steam blog post. In this post, they unintentionally disclosed the release date, which has since been taken down from the post. However, before it was removed, Gematsu captured a screenshot of the blog post showing the announced release date.

2K and Hangar 13’s PAX East 2025 event is scheduled for May 8 at 11 AM Pacific Time / 2 PM Eastern Time. During this session, they are set to unveil a fresh gameplay trailer. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with some of the developers, including studio president Nick Baynes, game director Alex Cox, and cinematic director Tomas Hrebicek. It’s likely that they will reveal the release date during this panel.
The video game “Mafia: The Old Country” is a prequel to the original series installment, and it’s set during the early 1900s in Sicily. This story unfolds in the fictional town of San Celeste, which you might recognize from “Mafia 2,” and was even mentioned in “Mafia: Definitive Edition.
Additionally, it offers complete audio recordings in multiple languages such as English, French, German, Spanish, Czech, and Russian, plus Sicilian, to preserve the cultural integrity of the content.
