During the Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live event in August of last year, we received the official unveiling for Mafia: The Old Country. Now, we have our first look at the gameplay with the release of the trailer. Here’s a peek at the gameplay from Hangar 13’s upcoming title. You can check it out below.
In the fourth installment and prequel of “Mafia,” titled “Mafia: The Old Country,” the action is set in Sicily during the early 20th century. Here we’ll assume the role of Enzo, a young man yearning for a better life who will find himself drawn into the criminal family led by Don Torrisi. He will ultimately swear loyalty to this powerful organization.
Hangar 13 Studio’s upcoming project is set to differ significantly from previous installments, as it focuses on providing a more “movie-like” experience rather than an open world environment. This means the gameplay will follow a linear structure. Additionally, the team has chosen to move away from their in-house Illusion Engine and adopt Unreal Engine 5 instead.
2K Games accidentally leaked the release date for Mafia: The Old Country before its official trailer dropped, but it’s now been confirmed that this game will be available to play starting August 8, 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
