As a long-time fan of the Mafia series, I am thrilled to hear that Mafia: Definitive Edition is coming to Game Pass on August 13! Having grown up with the original game, it’s exciting to see it get a modern touch while still retaining its classic charm. Although some aspects of the remake might not live up to their full potential, I am eager to dive back into the world of organized crime that the Mafia series is known for.
On August 13, Game Pass subscribers can expect the addition of Mafia: Definitive Edition from developers 2K and Hangar 13. This will be available across consoles, personal computers, and cloud gaming platforms.
As a gaming enthusiast, diving into Mafia: Definitive Edition feels like stepping back in time with a modern twist. This remake of the 2002 classic comes packed with goodies like new rides, firearms, and threads to suit my character’s style. It even borrows some mechanics from Mafia 3, such as the shooting and cover systems, making it feel more immersive than ever.

In the year 2022, Hangar 13 officially announced they were creating a fresh Mafia game. Earlier rumors suggested they were developing a Mafia prequel using Unreal Engine 5 and set in Italy, so it’s plausible that the project confirmed is indeed this prequel. However, since then, Hangar 13 has not disclosed any new details about the game.
In our TopMob review of Mafia: Definitive Edition, we noted that while it may enhance the initial game, the modernization falls somewhat short, leading to a game with inconsistencies. This game, despite its promising prospects, fails to fully deliver on them.
