Madden Movie Circling Even More Big Names, Including John Mulaney As Key EA Executive

A film centered around the late football icon John Madden, renowned for his popular video game series by EA, is currently being developed. The role of John Madden will be portrayed by Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage. Reports from Deadline suggest that comedian John Mulaney, actresses Kathryn Hahn and Sienna Miller are in discussions to join the cast for undisclosed roles.

The report states that Mulaney has been cast as Trip Hawkins, the founder of EA who played a significant role in introducing the successful Madden series. Hahn is rumored to take on the part of Virginia, Madden’s wife. Miller is hinted to portray Carol, the late Al Davis’ wife. As was earlier reported, Christian Bale, an Academy Award winner, will play Davis himself.

David O. Russell, who has been nominated for an Oscar for directing, has agreed to take up the director’s role for a film currently being developed. This project is expected to be distributed by Amazon MGM Studios and potentially made available on Amazon Prime Video. Interestingly, Russell himself penned the script for this upcoming movie.

The Madden film’s production is forecasted to kick off in Atlanta during May, but a launch date remains undisclosed.

John Madden spent a comparatively brief period as head coach of the Raiders from 1969 to 1978, during which time he garnered seven division championships and a Super Bowl victory. Post-retirement, Madden rose to prominence as the NFL’s most recognized commentator, also playing a pivotal role in the creation of the Madden NFL video game series, which persists even beyond his passing in 2021.

Regarding the Madden video game franchise, it’s anticipated that a new installment will hit the shelves in August. Details are scarce at this point, but it seems there will be some form of Lowe’s brand integration in the game.
