After the intriguing sneak peek at the Grammys, featuring M3GAN dancing to Grammy-winning artist Chappell Roan’s popular song “Femininomenon,” a fresh trailer from Blumhouse delves deeper into M3GAN’s vengeful comeback.
Following the unexpected success of “M3GAN” in the horror genre, earning over $180 million globally on a mere $12 million investment due to its viral dance routines and cheesy atmosphere, the sinister doll is back on screen after being annihilated by her creator, Gemma (Allison Williams). In the subsequent film, Gemma, who has since become a renowned author championing government control of AI, together with her niece, Cady (Violet McGraw), uncover that M3GAN’s technology has been misused to develop a deadly military tool named Amelia. As the story unfolds, Gemma finds herself compelled to revive M3GAN in order to put an end to this new threat.
Gerard Johnstone is back at the helm, with actors Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps rejoining the crew. Joining them are fresh faces Aristotle Athari (“Hacks”), Timm Sharp (“Percy Jackson and the Olympians”) and Jemaine Clement.
In the world of “M3GAN,” the story doesn’t end with just a sequel. Instead, a spin-off titled “Soulm8te” is scheduled to premiere on January 2, 2026, produced by Atomic Monster and Blumhouse. Although the exact plot details are yet to be fully disclosed, it’s being categorized as an erotic thriller. The story revolves around a man who seeks solace from the loss of his late wife by acquiring an artificially intelligent android. However, in his quest to create a truly conscious companion, he unwittingly transforms an innocent lovebot into a lethal partner, more akin to a soulmate than a simple robot.
