As a seasoned movie enthusiast who’s seen more shows and movies than I can count on both hands (and maybe a few toes), I must say that the latest statistics from Variety have caught my attention. The Umbrella Academy Season 4 has taken the streaming world by storm, breaking records with an impressive 863.1 million minutes watched in its debut week!
During the week of August 9th to 15th, Season 4 of “The Umbrella Academy” was the most-streamed original series in the United States, according to data provided by Luminate.
In its inaugural week, a total of 863.1 million minutes were spent watching the final installment of the Netflix series. Moreover, this fresh release sparked renewed interest in the earlier seasons, with Season 1 ranking eighth with a viewership of 176.1 million minutes watched.
“The series ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ and ‘Love Is Blind: UK’ remained popular on Netflix, with the former racking up 335.4 million minutes watched (second place) and the latter not far behind at 313.4 million minutes viewed (third place). These were trailed by Season 6 of ‘Love Island USA,’ which garnered 292.1 million minutes watched on Peacock during its third full week of broadcast.”
The docuseries titled “American Murder: Laci Peterson” premiered in fifth position, amassing a total of 255.3 million views, while “Love of My Life” climbed up slightly from the previous week, securing sixth place with 214.6 million views. Apart from the first season of “The Umbrella Academy,” shows that garnered fewer than 200 million minutes watched were “Presumed Innocent,” “Blue Ribbon Baking Championship,” and the fourth season of “Evil.”
In its first week on Apple TV+, “The Instigators” topped the film charts with a staggering 369.4 million minutes of viewing time. Meanwhile, “Inside the Mind of a Dog” from Netflix made its debut at No. 1 with 201.1 million minutes watched, closely trailed by “Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie,” which was seen for 153 million minutes in its second week on the chart.
The following titles collectively received less than 100 million minutes of viewership: “Mission: Cross”, “Find Me Falling”, “Lolo and the Kid”, “One Fast Move”, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F”, “My Spy: The Eternal City” and “A Family Affair.” (Alternatively, these titles had a combined viewing time of less than 100 million minutes.)
