As a seasoned cinema enthusiast with over three decades of immersion in the world of films and series, I must say that this week’s streaming charts have been quite intriguing. The dominance of “The Perfect Couple” and “Rebel Ridge” is no surprise, given their compelling narratives.
Once again last week, Luminate ranked “The Perfect Couple” and “Rebel Ridge” as the top streamed original series and movie respectively among U.S. viewers, according to data from September 13th to 19th.
As a movie enthusiast penning down my thoughts, I’ve got to say that “The Perfect Couple” certainly made a splash during its second week on Netflix, racking up an impressive 1.8 billion minutes viewed. However, it couldn’t quite match the astronomical figures from its debut week, which saw a whopping 3.4 billion minutes watched.
In its premiere, “Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter” ranked third place, logging a total of 738.1 million minutes viewed, while “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” climbed to fourth position in its second week on the chart, tallying up 537.6 million minutes watched.
In its third week on the charts, “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2 ranked fifth, being watched for a total of 346.4 million minutes. This is a decrease from the previous week when it was in fourth place, with 372.7 million minutes viewed. Notably, the number of minutes watched dropped by over half between its first and second week. The sixth episode aired on the final day of this viewing period.
In the opening week, “Tulsa King” Season 2 premiered on Paramount+ on September 15 and ranked sixth, garnering 323.2 million minutes of viewing in its initial five days of streaming. Additionally, the arrival of Season 2 sparked renewed interest in Season 1, which climbed to eighth place with a total of 239.4 million minutes watched.
The remaining spots on the TV rankings were claimed by repeated hits: “Selling Sunset” ranked 7th with a total of 296.4 million minutes watched, “Bad Monkey” took the 9th spot with 236.8 million minutes, and “Outlast” Season 2 snagged the 10th position with 230.6 million minutes viewed.
In the movie rankings, “Uglies” came in second place, following “Rebel Ridge,” with a whopping 608.3 million minutes watched during its first week on Netflix. After “Uglies,” there was a significant decline in viewership. The third spot went to “Officer Black Belt,” which garnered 143.4 million minutes watched, while “The Deliverance” was in its fifth week with 123.9 million minutes viewed. All the titles with fewer than 100 million minutes watched were “The Union,” “Sector 36,” “The Killer,” “Child Star,” “The Assistant 2,” and “Boxer.” Among these, “Sector 36,” “Child Star,” and “Boxer” were debut releases.
