Ludwig and Tyler1, both popular streamers, will compete in a special Street Fighter 6 match at Evo Las Vegas in 2026.
The announcement sparked debate among fighting game fans. Some felt that neither streamer is deeply enough involved in the fighting game community to deserve the recognition, considering Evo is the biggest and most important tournament of its kind.
Ludwig explained the situation during a live stream in April, stating he received “$500,000” to compete in the exhibition and then shared why he decided to participate.
He explained he said yes because he enjoys collaborating with Tyler and thought it would be a good time.
Many people online expressed disappointment with this decision. Some members of the fighting game community felt the resources used could have been better allocated elsewhere, but that seems to stem from a misunderstanding of the situation.
Tyler1 and Ludwig will be facing off in Street Fighter 6 at #Evo2026 – it’s a one-on-one battle with no help from teammates and no room for error!

Ludwig wants Rivals of Aether II to be Evo’s “biggest” tournament
Ludwig clarified that he was already planning to attend Evo, even before the exhibition was announced. He wanted to help promote Rivals of Aether II, the platform fighter developed by his company, Offbrand Games.
He believes the game has a strong chance of being featured in the Evo Sunday Finals, and he’s even offered to cover registration costs for players who want to compete.
He stated he’d always intended to attend Evo. He wasn’t interested in simply being paid to play Street Fighter; his goal was to make Rivals of Aether II the main event. He’s working on a plan to cover the registration costs for hundreds of players so they can compete in the game at Evo.
He shared screenshots of his Discord conversation with Tyler1, who Ludwig says has achieved Master rank in Street Fighter 6. Ludwig says he’s currently at the Platinum rank.

Tyler1 and Ludwig both had experience with Street Fighter 6 tournaments before this one. Last year, Tyler1 hosted a tournament specifically for players using the game’s Modern controls, offering a $10,000 prize to the winner. Ludwig also competed in the 2025 AT&T Annihilator Cup, finishing in 5th place.
