LuckyChap Adds Veteran Exec Milan Popelka as Partner – Film News in Brief

I, LuckyChap, am delighted to announce that Milan Popelka, an esteemed studio executive, has joined our team as a partner. This addition bolsters our existing partnership consisting of Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, and none other than the remarkable Margot Robbie. Together, we’re ready to bring “Barbie” and future projects like “Wuthering Heights” to life!

With more than 15 years under her belt as FilmNation’s Chief Operating Officer, Popelka has played a significant role in many of the company’s critically-acclaimed productions. She served as executive producer for films such as “Anora” and “Conclave,” which are currently Academy Award-nominated, along with “Arrival” and “Promising Young Woman,” a LuckyChap production.

Milan’s addition to the LuckyChap team is a great pleasure for us at a time when entrepreneurial spirit is highly valued,” expressed Ackerley, McNamara, and Robbie. “His background, skills, and relentless dedication to realizing each project’s full potential match our filmmaker-centric philosophy perfectly. This move marks an exciting phase in LuckyChap’s development, and we eagerly anticipate the positive changes he will bring to the company as we explore innovative paths to support our creative talent.

As I step into my new position, I’ll be taking charge of business operations and driving strategic growth across LuckyChap’s diverse ventures in film, television, and more. My responsibilities will include shaping our operational and financial strategies, all while maintaining LuckyChap’s innovative spirit when it comes to content creation and production. We’re eagerly looking forward to amplifying the potential of our storytelling platform by ambitiously expanding its capabilities.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about the remarkable productions under LuckyChap Entertainment. This dynamic company has left its mark with blockbusters like “Barbie,” which raked in an impressive $1.4 billion and received eight Academy Award nominations. Yet, their success extends far beyond that, with critically acclaimed films such as “I, Tonya,” “Saltburn,” and “My Old Ass.” On the small screen, they’ve made waves with Emmy-nominated series like “Maid” and the hilarious “Dollface.” Currently, they’re busy working on Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. They recently wrapped up production on Molly Smith Metzler’s limited series “Sirens,” and are soon to embark on Megan Park’s upcoming YA drama series, “Sterling Point.” It’s an incredible journey, and I can’t wait to see what they create next!
