Luca Guadagnino’s ‘Queer,’ Starring Daniel Craig, Set for New York Film Festival

As a cinema enthusiast, I am absolutely thrilled to witness the third appearance of Luca Guadagnino’s masterpiece at the New York Film Festival. His selection for the Spotlight Gala with “Queer” is a testament to his unparalleled versatility and audacity as a filmmaker.

Luca Guadagnino’s movie titled “Queer” has been chosen for the main event at New York Film Festival. This romantic drama features Daniel Craig as an American living in Mexico City who falls deeply in love with a younger man. The U.S. debut of this film will take place at Alice Tully Hall on October 6th.

According to Dennis Lim, the artistic director of New York Film Festival, Luca Guadagnino is renowned as one of today’s most adaptable and daring filmmakers. He went on to say that “Queer” is Guadagnino’s boldest, most innovative, and most unexpected work yet. This film not only vividly portrays its subculture but also crafts an exceptional role for the outstanding Daniel Craig.

“The film titled ‘Queer,’ originally inspired by William S. Burrough’s novel, is the creation of Justin Kuritzkes and features actors Drew Starkey, Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville, Michael Borremans, Andra Ursuta, and David Lowery. This production will make its debut at the Venice Film Festival.”

“Guadagnino’s third movie to appear at NYFF, following “Call Me by Your Name” and “Bones and All,” is “Queer.” He has recently directed “Challengers,” a film centered around a tennis-based love triangle involving Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist. Additionally, Guadagnino is currently working on “Separate Rooms,” a poignant tale about an Italian author who grieves the death of his boyfriend.”

“Guadagnino expressed his gratitude and excitement as he shared that his film, ‘Queer’, will be screened at NYFF for the third time. This project is deeply personal to him, exploring the universal struggle to be seen by another, as captured through the perspective of literary icon, William Burroughs.”

The 62nd New York Film Festival is scheduled to run from September 27th until October 14th. Among the films on its program are Pedro Almodóvar’s “The Room Next Door,” Steve McQueen’s historical drama “Blitz,” Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or-winning film “Anora,” and Paul Schrader’s “Oh, Canada.”
