Low Driven Shot Falls Flat

Low Driven Shot is an enticing new shooting PlayStyle in EA FC 25, but one downside holds it back from being one of the best options.

Style-based Plays enhance particular actions on the pitch, whereas integrating a Style amplifies those distinctive skills to an elite global standard.

A player who utilizes Finesse Shot+ can execute finesse shots at a remarkably quick pace, delivering maximum spin and impressive precision. However, if they were to use a standard Finesse PlayStyle, their finesse shots would still be sped up but with added curve and enhanced accuracy.

EA FC 25 launched with five scoring PlayStyles: Power Shot, Dead Ball, Chip Shot, Finnesse Shot, Power Header. On March 10, Title Update 10 added Low Driven Shot as a new scoring PlayStyle, but is it better than other options?

Finesse Shot and Power Shot still reign supreme in EA FC 25

Using a Low Driven Shot PlayStyle enhances the precision of low driven shots, causing the ball to move at a higher speed, and making the overall animation smoother and swifter, thereby noticeably improving the quality of the shots.

Regardless of its PlayStyle, a Low Driven shot effectively finds the back of the net both inside and outside the penalty area due to the difficulty goalkeepers face in diving low and quickly responding to make a timely save.

However, that is where the issue arose. I bought the Fut Birthday Gary Lineker ICON card to test out the new PlayStyle + and made a surprising discovery. After a few Division Rivals and FUT Champs matches, I scored plenty of Low Driven shots with the card because of the new addition.

In a two-striker setup featuring FUT Birthday Marco Van Basten paired with Lineker, I too managed multiple Low Driven shots. However, Van Basten lacks the PlayStyle. This led me to believe that the Low Driven PlayStyle does have an impact, but it’s not substantial enough to choose it over other attributes.

This is especially true because there is no limit to the number of normal PlayStyles a card can have, but it can only have a maximum of two PlayStyle + unless it is a TOTY card. If Low Driven shots were weaker without this style, or if the buff was even better, it may be worth running. For now, though, it just isn’t.

I would much rather have a striker with Power Shot + and Finesse Shot + or in combination with a dribbling PlayStyle because there is a noticeable difference between the enhanced and base versions.

Low Driven could be one of the best PlayStyles in the game with a buff that makes the difference more noticeable between a card that does and doesn’t have the ability. For now, though, I’d recommend looking for attackers with different scoring enhancements.
