Lovecraft Story That Was Adapted Into Gory 1985 Cult Classic Is Getting A Remake

A fresh adaptation of the classic horror tale “Herbert West: Reanimator,” originally penned by legendary horror author H.P. Lovecraft, is slated to appear on screens. The 1985 horror film “Re-Animator,” a loose interpretation of the 1922 novelette, depicted the chaotic consequences when medical student Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs) inadvertently unleashes mayhem by creating a serum that resurrects the deceased. The Stuart Gordon movie, which boasted supporting roles for Bruce Abbott (“Bad Dreams”), Barbara Crampton (“You’re Next”), and David Gale (“Search for Tomorrow”), inspired two sequels.

By the stipulated date, the classic horror tale “Herbert West: Reanimator” is set to be updated into a contemporary film. This project is being handled by Adam Simon and Tim Metcalfe, known for their work on the supernatural horror movie “The Haunting in Connecticut”. Woodlake Entertainment is financing this production, with Jeffrey Lewis and Keith Previte taking on the role of producers. John Simmons, Roger Lewis, and Andrew Trapani (who was a producer on “The Haunting in Connecticut”) will serve as executive producers. The following is a statement from Lewis, who is also the proprietor of Woodlake:

As a passionate film enthusiast, I can’t contain my enthusiasm for the upcoming project, Woodlake. This incredible ensemble has been carefully selected to breathe new life into a timeless horror narrative, transforming it into a chilling modern cinematic experience that’s sure to send shivers down our spines.

More to come…
