Indeed, it’s time to bid farewell. Kudos to Amaya, the triumphant winner of Love Island USA season seven and self-proclaimed “Dominican Cinderella.” Naturally, Amaya found an apt comparison for her victory – a fitting metaphor, indeed, if you give it some thought.
Similar to the Disney tale, our Dominican Cinderella, Amaya, embodies a heart overflowing with kindness, an infectious optimism, and an unusual friendship with small creatures like mice and pigeons. Ace plays the cruel stepmother, treating Amaya unjustly at first, while Austin and Zak (with a K) are her wicked stepsisters, further tormenting her when she’s at her lowest. However, with the magic of some enchanting shoes and a fairy godmother named America by her side, Amaya experiences her own fairytale ending. She leaves the villa, not only with a new love but also $50,000 in her pocket.
Thank goodness! This season of “Love Island USA” didn’t need another unexpected turn of events. Now, what the nation really yearns for is Amaya Papaya finding true love, and fortunately, Bryan seems to be an ideal gentleman. The final week of “Love Island” usually contains a lot of unnecessary content, and this season was no exception.
During her date with Bryan, Amaya excitedly talks about her “fairytale” and her “Prince Charming.” She styled her hair like Cinderella for the occasion, and even though other islanders received sailboats, private islands, and live singers for their final dates, they found theirs to be the most romantic. After their date, Amaya and Bryan became exclusive, planning their first dinner out together involving truffle pasta, wine, and peace in the chaos. In his closing speech, Bryan told Amaya, “You are my calm amidst the madness,” expressing that they were two kindred spirits who truly understood each other.
Indeed, Bryan and Amaya’s victory wasn’t exactly unexpected, yet it’s the bittersweet moments we cherish most. It’s those unexpected twists, like tragedies, that truly catch us off guard. To be honest, I wasn’t taken aback by Huda and Chris’s separation – it wasn’t a tragedy, more of an anticipation. But ending their journey with just one day left in the villa? That was something I hadn’t foreseen.
In my perspective, even though Bryan and Amaya recreated “The Parent Trap,” Ace defended Huda, Chris’s family supported us, Huda’s sisters approved, America voted for us, we shared a magical date with a floating dining table and a live singer, Chris and I couldn’t seem to move past our physical-affection hurdles. We’ve been discussing this issue for days now, yet it remains unclear who desires more affection than they’re receiving, and who is hesitant. In the end, during our candlelit dinner, Huda made a tough decision to call things off while Chris, perhaps trying to soften the blow, gulped down several glasses of Champagne.
After the experience, Huda admits she’s transformed positively despite the apparent effort wasted by all. On the final night, Huda is like a recently divorced person at a wedding who refuses to dampen the mood. Unfortunately, Chris still seems heartbroken. He tells Huda she looks fantastic, and in response, Huda comments on how everyone looks great. The speeches could have been awkward, but finale night is all about positive energy. Huda learns from Chris that emotional relationships matter more than physical ones. Chris praises Huda for her character, humor, and her endearing dimples. He finishes by saying he hopes his letter has moved her as it has him writing it, making me understand the feeling of being a Nicolandria shipper.
As Nic and Olandria grow more affectionate towards each other, they find themselves supported by a large group of online fans who help boost their relationship to second place. This could be the reason why their final date is focused on gathering approvals from the public, with the show hiding supportive comments in glass bottles around the beach. I’m not convinced this is anything more than a staged romance, but it’s clear that everyone involved is putting effort into making it believable. Olandria seems to be tapping into BookTok trends by frequently mentioning “friends to lovers,” while Nic is adding backstory as they progress, reminding Olandria of their first kiss during the blindfold challenge. On Family Day, both their mothers appear to support their relationship, allowing Olandria to continually tell Nic, “My mom loves you, buddy,” and for Nic to reciprocate with, “I can’t wait for your mom to come over for dinner.
Iris and Pepe ended up in fourth position, likely due to their low profile. Their families’ attire on Family Day suggests a shared high-society background, reminiscent of a country club brunch. It’s clear that Pepe wasn’t sailing alone since he could relax on the boat deck, popping Champagne without giving instructions or adjusting course to Iris. At this point, their only advantage is their proximity to Los Angeles, as they both reside in the general area.
On the day prior to the finale, Ace and Chelley were removed from the island beforehand, allowing them a final, cherished night in the Hideaway. Though no physical intimacy occurred, Ace crafted a heart in the sand for Chelley and proposed an exclusive relationship – as intimate a moment as these two could share. Regrettably, this emotional bond was not sufficient to keep them within the villa. Their departure was announced via a place card hidden beneath a covered dinner plate, a rather unceremonious end even by the standards of Love Island USA.
Despite Huda and Chris’s unfortunate breakup, there wasn’t much else to miss. After everyone has listened to the speeches and dried their tears on the last night, Ariana shows up to encourage the islanders one more time and announce the results. Bryan and Amaya come out as winners, with Bryan choosing the money card. Being the generous soul he is, he decides to share the cash. Now everyone, let’s dive into the pool!
