Love Is Blind Season-Finale Recap: Are You Sure?

As a longtime observer of human relationships and a firm believer that love knows no boundaries, I must say this season of Love Is Blind has been quite an intriguing rollercoaster ride! It’s fascinating to see how two individuals from different walks of life find each other amidst the chaos of blind dates and hidden identities.

As a longtime relationship coach with decades of experience, I’ve seen my fair share of tumultuous relationships and dramatic breakups. But nothing quite prepared me for this latest scenario involving Marissa’s mom and Ramses. It’s Wedding Week, and tensions are running high as we have three couples left to tie the knot.

Marissa was taken aback by this revelation. It appears that Ramses’ family has helped him understand that his ex-spouse had been suffering more deeply than he thought after their divorce. I can’t help but wonder why these discussions couldn’t have occurred before he joined the show Love Is Blind, but it is what it is. He claims his emotions are pushing him to move on, yet he needs to be more rational in his decision-making. I agree with her when she requests Ramses to provide clear and tangible reasons because his statements seem unclear to me. In essence, he suggests that the compatibility of their energies living and coexisting in the same space is the issue, which sounds more like something you’d say during a mindfulness session rather than ending an engagement abruptly.

It’s unfortunate that Marissa’s words from the pods, where she mentioned men often find her “too much” after initially being attracted, are echoed by Ramses in ending their engagement. It appears he made the same decision later than one might expect given their shared living situation for weeks. Marissa seems open and genuine, so it’s hard to believe she would conceal aspects of herself that caused Ramses distress. Compared to Hannah and Tim, who ended things before the fitting of wedding attire, this situation feels drawn out. While it’s better than calling off an engagement at the altar, it’s still a disappointing turn of events.

Marissa believes that Ramses shouldn’t have participated in the show as he requires more time to feel comfortable enough to propose. Despite appearing quite tearful, she persists with her sobs. She repeatedly queries Ramses about his decision while they embrace. When it becomes evident that he is resolute, she collapses on the floor in tears. She departs from the room without her ring and then conducts a confessional while still crying heavily. Her courage, though perhaps not something she would appreciate given her military background, is remarkable to me as she faces a camera after spending two days planning their first dance song with Ramses, only for him to change his mind. Marissa contacts her mother (the details of the conversation remain unheard, but it’s likely that it wasn’t particularly kind toward Ramses).

Judging from their online interactions, it appears that Marissa and Ramses may have mended their relationship. She doesn’t seem to be harboring any anger towards him during their reunion, and I don’t get the sense that she wants viewers to feel angry on her behalf. However, the recent breakup is still quite raw for us as viewers, and seeing Marissa in such emotional distress serves as a shocking introduction to the episode.

Next, we jump right into a Washington Wizards game, and for a moment, I’m unsure if Tyler and Garrett’s companions from last week have changed or if there’s been a mix-up. It took me a second to realize that this wasn’t my remote malfunctioning, but rather a basketball court appearing on my screen. However, upon understanding the situation, it was clear that this was their bachelor party, with Tyler and Garrett playing hoops and musical chairs in front of a crowd, which seemed enjoyable for them. Thumbs up to them! On the other hand, Ashley and Taylor are having a slumber party-themed bachelorette celebration. Taylor remarks that they are such resilient women who would have ditched their partners if any non-negotiables had arisen. Ashley concurs, but also acknowledges that they need to give their men some leeway on this timeline. Moreover, men tend to make mistakes, as the lone male in the “I Do Crew” humorously points out, albeit unconvincingly.

On to our first wedding!

Initially, we focus on Tyler and Ashley. Tyler confides in his companions about their plans to visit the “fertility clinic” following the wedding reception; Ashley’s friends present her with a robe for an intimate moment. Ashley is extremely confident in Tyler, whom she describes as shielding her feelings. Any significant event within the next few hours could potentially make her hesitate, but given her intuition, it might just be a strange expression on his face as she walks down the aisle. For now, she places her trust in him to the tune of 180 percent and is prepared to take this bold step of faith.

Tyler’s mother, the one he had praised during podcasts for singlehandedly raising him, visits him, revealing his hidden nerves that he didn’t show his boys. She subtly points out that he’s never expressed doubts about Ashley. They hint at his father not being present due to his own actions, but Tyler is held responsible. Ashley’s father is indeed invited because she has managed to forgive him for his treatment of women, and her mother is too. Tyler suggests Ashley should stay in her marriage, implying that some people flee when things get tough and later regret it. However, he doesn’t get the honor of giving her away; instead, he passes her off during the aisle to her mother.

The event commences with a prayer as expected. As they exchange vows, both individuals become emotional, referencing God and acts of faith. The tense music doesn’t resonate with me. Naturally, they respond with “I do.” They conclude the ceremony by following an African tradition called jumping over the broom. Ashley, Tyler, and their golden goblets rejoice afterwards…and indeed, he brings up the topic of wanting children. I guess the producers found this endearing before the social media debate ensued.

Without further ado, our second and final couple are now preparing to walk down the aisle. Taylor eagerly looks forward to starting a family with Garrett, complete with children and grandchildren. He’s been carefully examining his feelings each day to ensure he’s completely certain, as they pledged only to say “yes” if their commitment was truly heartfelt and sincere.

Taylor’s mother penned a touching poem, narrating from the viewpoint of the baby bonnet that has been transformed into a wedding handkerchief, symbolizing Taylor’s “something old.” As Taylor dons this little keepsake, her mother sheds tears. Meanwhile, on the groom’s side, Garrett gets a precious moment with Taylor’s father, who helps him adjust his bow tie. In turn, Garrett vows repeatedly to care for Taylor, prioritize her feelings, and respect her. When he pauses to catch his breath, Mr. Krause expresses his unwavering support. Reflecting on the past, Mr. Krause recounts that Taylor stayed with him for two weeks when his late brother – whose tie Garrett is wearing – passed away. He emphasizes that marriage involves standing by each other during hardships and losses such as these. Contrary to earlier impressions of hesitation, Mr. Krause now appears eagerly anticipating a “remarkable son-in-law.

As a movie buff, I’ve gotta say, my folks are still a tad apprehensive about me jetting off to San Diego. They voice their worries, but I counter by pointing out that stumbling upon someone like Taylor, who seems so in tune with me, would be nothing short of foolish to ignore. In the end, they express their support, even though it might appear sudden. The truth is, they understand I’ve given this a lot of careful thought – more than they did before getting hitched, if you can believe it! A delightful twist in our cheesy romance tale is that both Taylor and I share a unique connection: we were both tied the knot on the 13th. It feels like fate for this sweet love story, doesn’t it?

As a devoted cinephile, I’d put it like this: The host presents “Love Is Blind” as the most significant blindfolded study for these two researchers, each holding their heartfelt vows. Garrett shares his thoughts on Taylor being his ideal match, even joking about making every date as scorching hot as their time in Cabo to elicit laughter from the audience. Taylor expresses her feelings for “G”, praising him and speaking optimistically about their future. She likens this experience to the comforting warmth of sunlight on your skin during winter, a sensation she calls apricity. In conclusion, she admits she’s caught herself quite a big fish. I was hoping for a little Shrek humor, but they didn’t disappoint in delivering what I expected from them. Predictably, both say “yes”!

Afterward, Garrett affectionately kisses Taylor during their delightful private conversation. She gently taps him on the chest and playfully says, “Alright, alright, alright, you’ve got all of your life for that.” Later, they journey away in a horse-drawn carriage, sharing in a confession that love indeed can be blind.

Following some dance moves at Ashley and Tyler’s wedding reception and their event, it’s all wrapped up! The grand finale seems incomplete to me, given the strange turn this season has taken. I wonder if Ashley is content as a stepmother now? Has Garrett managed to transition his life smoothly to San Diego? And didn’t we have unanswered questions about other couples that could’ve been addressed with additional footage or insights? To my mind, the reunion will be the actual finale. This week was more like an obligatory passage before that. Looking forward to seeing you on October 30!

Extra Engaged

As a fervent admirer, I’ve found myself grappling with a series of allegations posted by Tyler’s child’s mother on Instagram. These claims, which resonate with the whispers circulating online, have cast a new light on every endearing word he utters in this episode, leaving me questioning their true intentions.

Marissa recently shared on TikTok that she’s been dealing with rheumatoid arthritis, and during our recent discussion about physical intimacy, she was experiencing a flare-up. This means her discomfort wasn’t just due to PMS, which adds valuable context to the conversation!

Last week, I had a brief yet enlightening conversation with Alex and Hannah. Despite the limited time, their insights were intriguing. The Lacheys are undoubtedly well-prepared for the upcoming reunion, but just in case they need assistance, Netflix, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am brimming with questions!
