“Love, Death + Robots” is coming back with 10 wacky new short films and a sprawling voice cast.
In the Season 4 premiere of the award-winning series, available for streaming from May 15th on Netflix, MrBeast takes charge of a cosmic arena filled with dinosaur-mounted mutants, while John Oliver serves as a charming robotic caretaker.
As a movie critic, I found myself captivated by David Fincher’s innovative directorial approach in the premiere episode “Can’t Stop,” a unique reinterpretation of the Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ iconic 2003 Slane Castle performance. In this rendition, the band members – Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante – are meticulously recreated as captivating marionettes. The result is a visually stunning spectacle that pays homage to the raw energy of the original performance while adding an intriguing twist to the classic rock narrative.
Additionally, the upcoming episodes of the dystopian anthology series will feature cats planning global domination, a character portrayed as Dolphin Jesus, oversized newborns, and Satan. This production is overseen by Tim Miller and Fincher, who serve as executive producers alongside Jennifer Miller and Joshua Donen. Jennifer Yuh Nelson resumes her role as the lead director.
