Amanda Seyfried has returned to a main TV part, having appeared previously in “The Crowded Room” and receiving an Emmy for her performance in “The Dropout.
The TV show “Long Bright River,” which is based on a 2020 New York Times bestseller by Liz Moore, follows the story of Mickey (Seyfried), a police officer who patrols an area of Philadelphia that has been severely affected by the opioid crisis. When three girls are discovered dead, Mickey must confront her past as she embarks on a search for the truth.
The intense trailer portrays Mickey’s adventure, as she is probed about her involvement in the case and her private ties. In a shop, Lafferty (played by Dash Mihok) queries her, “It appears you’re taking it personally and you won’t explain why.”

Hagar Ben-Asher (“Dead Women Walking”) directs the first and fifth episodes.
