Liza Minnelli to Appear on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Finale and Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

The wait is finally over… Liza Minnelli is set to appear on “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

On April 18 during the Season 17 finale, RuPaul will bestow Minnelli with the show’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contribution to Drag and Fashion. She will grace our main stage to receive this honor, joining esteemed recipients like Bob Mackie and Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) who have also made a profound impact in these fields.

Minnelli, a well-known figure in LGBTQ+ culture, has been celebrated on the show previously, but in drag versions of herself. For instance, in 2010, Alexis Michelle showcased her best jazz moves and delivered an outstanding portrayal of the “Cabaret” star. Subsequently, Hannah Conda, La Voix, and Scarlett Bobo have also taken their turns impersonating Minnelli.

Currently, the competition is intensifying in Season 17 as only five contestants remain: Sam Star, Suzie Toot, Onya Nurve, Jewels Sparkles, and Lexi Love. Previously, there was no elimination, instead, the queens invited their parents into the werk room for a heartfelt reunion. The emotional exchanges led to some tense moments, but eventually, it was time to focus on the runway. The task at hand? Transforming their parents into drag performers.

Sam, along with her mother Sassy, were crowned the top winners of the week’s competition. Suzie Toot and her mom came in second place. In other news, Lexi was declared safe. Jewels and Onya found themselves in the bottom two and delivered an intense lip sync performance to Amerie’s “1 Thing”. By the end, RuPaul announced that there would be a double save, meaning no one would be eliminated this week.

As the final approaches, tensions will rise as the remaining contestants strive to win the $200,000 grand prize and be named America’s next drag sensation.
