‘Live With Kelly and Mark’ Post-Oscar Week Sees Weekly and Yearly Ratings Gains in All Key Measurements (EXCLUSIVE)

The Oscar was awarded to “Live with Kelly and Mark,” a show that experienced an increase in ratings during the week of the Academy Awards. This surge can be attributed, among other things, to its traditional post-Oscars coverage, which kicked off with a live broadcast from the Dolby Theatre on March 3, mere hours after “Anora” was chosen as this year’s best picture.

The Oscars boost significantly improved key metrics for “Live” on a weekly basis, such as total viewers (an increase of 4%, from 2.218 million to 2.315 million), households (a rise of 3%, from 1.45 rating to 1.49 rating), women aged 18-49 (up by 10%, from a 0.30 rating to a 0.33 rating), and women aged 25-54 (a 5% increase, from 0.44 rating to 0.46 rating). Compared to the same time period last year, the episodes saw a 2% rise in total viewers (2.315 million vs 2.278 million) and a substantial 14% growth in women aged 18-49 (0.33 rating versus 0.29 rating).

On Mondays following the Oscars, the show drew an average of 2.65 million viewers, ranking it as the second most popular broadcast of the entire season.

The surge in “Live” viewership coincides with a modest annual increase in overall Oscars ratings: 19.7 million viewers, marking a 1% rise from 2024, and a 4.54 rating among the 18-49 age group, which saw a significant jump of 19% compared to the previous year. This represented the highest viewership for the Oscars in the past five years, both in terms of total viewers and the 18-49 demographic.

On Tuesday, March 4 (the day following the Oscars), “Live with Kelly and Mark” aired at 6 a.m. Pacific Time and 9 a.m. Eastern Time, live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, just six and a half hours after the Oscars ceremony concluded at the same venue. The show featured Steve Aoki and Lil Jon as musical guests, Jerry O’Connell reporting from the red carpet, and Nikki Glaser offering her thoughts on the winners and losers of the awards show. The episode began with a tribute to “Wicked,” with host Kelly Ripa dressed as Glinda.

As per “Live,” it has consistently been the top-watched talk show on syndication for an impressive 110 weeks in a row, outperforming its closest competitor in several significant categories. For instance, during the same week, it attracted 2.315 million viewers compared to its nearest rival’s 1.479 million, representing a substantial lead of 52%. Similarly, it garnered a household rating of 1.49 compared to 1.02 for the second-place show, demonstrating a 46% advantage. In terms of women aged 25-54, it pulled in a rating of 0.46, more than double the 0.31 rating achieved by its closest competitor. Furthermore, this pattern persisted among women aged 18-49, with “Live” securing a 55% lead for the 22nd week (0.33 rating vs. 0.21 rating).

To date in the current season, “Live” consistently ranks as the top talk show across all important metrics in syndication.
