The 2010 Dreamworks Animation film, inspired by Cressida Cowell’s book series, was created by DeBlois and Chris Sanders, with DeBlois taking charge of the subsequent two movies to finish the trilogy. The new installment will be screened at Annecy on June 11, preceding its U.S. premiere on June 13.

A presentation of animations from Paramount and Nickelodeon has been included in the festival lineup. This includes two exciting upcoming projects: “The Smurfs,” directed by Chris Miller who’s known for “Puss in Boots,” and “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” led by Derek Drymon. Also featured during the June 10th session are two short films: “SpongeBob: Order Up,” directed by Sean Charmatz, and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Chrome Alone 2 – Lost in New Jersey,” directed by Kent Seki.

Taking a peek at Paul McCartney’s 3D animated film titled “High in the Cloud,” directed by Toby Genkel, is now part of the lineup as well. The impressive ensemble cast that was just announced features big names like Celine Dion, Himesh Patel, Hannah Waddingham, Idris Elba, Lionel Richie, Ringo Starr, Jimmy Fallon, Clémence Poésy, Pom Klementieff and Alain Chabat. Gaumont is responsible for its production, and they will represent it internationally. Terry Kalagian, the president of global animation and family at Gaumont, is expected to be present at Annecy for the unveiling, along with project supervisor Christian De Vita.

As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to announce that “Predator: Killer of Killers,” an original tale in the Predators universe penned by Dan Trachtenberg and co-directed by Josh Wassung, has been added to the Annecy program. This exciting adventure premieres on June 6 exclusively on Hulu.
