As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, the news about LittleBigPlanet 3 being pulled from the PlayStation Store next year is bittersweet. I remember spending countless hours creating and sharing levels with friends back in the day. The game was a creative marvel, offering endless possibilities for user-generated content.
Later this month, Media Molecule, the creators of LittleBigPlanet 3 and all related DLC, have announced that these titles will no longer be available for purchase on the PlayStation Store. This sad announcement was shared across their social media platforms with the devoted LittleBigPlanet (LBP) community.
Lately, Sackboy, our series hero, was given a special tribute in Team Asobi’s Astro Bot game about a month ago, with players now able to collect an adorable robot character modeled after him. Interestingly, even though Astro Bot’s release sparked renewed interest and popularity for the game, Sony has announced that they will be discontinuing the game and its downloadable content. More details regarding purchasing the game have been shared in a recent update.
According to the creator of LittleBigPlanet series, the original game, LittleBigPlanet 3, and its related expansions will no longer be available for purchase on the PlayStation Store starting October 31, 2024. Fans have been advised that this is their final opportunity to get the game and its additional content from the digital store before it’s taken down permanently.
An important update on LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS4) and LittleBigPlanet DLC on the PlayStation Store:

For those who already own LittleBigPlanet 3 or any of its downloadable content (DLC) before it stops being sold, you’ll still be able to play the games and access your content even after it has been removed. Just a heads-up: if anyone in the community or newcomers want to own digital copies of LittleBigPlanet 3 or any current DLC available for purchase, this is your final opportunity to do so before they’re taken off the market!
In April 2024, the servers for LittleBigPlanet on PlayStation 4 were shut down due to persistent technical problems that had been ongoing since January 2024. This move affected all online features, but left offline gameplay available. The user-generated content stored locally on consoles could still be accessed individually, though it couldn’t be shared with other players for them to enjoy.
