Game developer Violoken, formerly an architect, unveiled their inaugural project titled “Little Mage”. This intriguing metroidvania incorporates aspects of action-RPGs, featuring elements like level progression, gear customization, skill points allocation, and character development. Akin to card games found in RPGs such as Final Fantasy IX, the game will also introduce a unique twist on card games – DARC (a term not specified here). Last week, a teaser trailer for the game was unveiled during the Future Games Show.
In the upcoming weeks, Violoken intends to start a Kickstarter campaign for their project. Although they guarantee the completion and release of the game regardless of the campaign’s success, they aspire to grow their team and accelerate production by recruiting additional staff. Given the developer’s current commitments – pursuing a PhD in Architecture and simultaneously working on the game – this expansion seems necessary. The game, titled Little Mage, is scheduled for release on Steam for PC and all major console platforms at an as-yet unspecified date in the future. Violoken has made it clear that they have put significant effort into ensuring that the game is entirely crafted by hand, with no AI-generated assets.

In the game titled Little Mage, you assume the role of an Æther Mage, the solitary figure who reawakens in a devastated realm, known as the Fall. The once-vibrant city of Hornedrose now stands as a desolate ruin, a burial ground for the ancient mages, the Sixteen, who were locked away due to their involvement in a catastrophic incident. As the world’s last beacon of hope, you must navigate through the decaying districts of the city, confront powerful adversaries, and disentangle the mysteries that could either rescue or annihilate the remaining fragments of this shattered world.
A world teeming with life, displaying the crumbling majesty of the long-fallen Magie. The city’s intricate fusion of age-old and otherworldly structures serves as a backdrop for your adventure, offering numerous enriching discoveries, distinctive dialects, and a profound history yearning to be unearthed. Violoken is originally an architect and art director who has now transitioned into being a solo video game developer. They use their past experiences to enrich the design aspects of their games. In addition to developing games, they are also pursuing a doctoral degree focusing on the overlap between architecture and video games.
