Character Description
Laura Ingalls: Many people find themselves reflected in Laura, which is why these books remain popular. Laura challenges norms and values honesty above all else. She questions authority and serves as a doorway into this exciting journey. An American icon-in-the-making, Laura transcends contemporary notions of childhood. The stakes were high for children living in the 19th century, as they faced responsibilities and freedoms that might seem extraordinary today amidst helicopter parenting. Interspersed with simple joys and squabbles with her elder sister are genuine acts of survival and bravery. She is observant, compassionate, strong-willed, hot-tempered. She defies the conventions of 19th-century femininity – she enjoys running barefoot and basking in the sunlight. She is curious, hopeful, and fearless, much like her father; resourceful, diligent, and honest, like her mother. She swiftly calls out any cruelty or injustice. She loves deeply and unabashedly, devoting herself completely to Jack, her beloved dog. While some adults may find her too inquisitive, spirited, and energetic, she is a beacon of light to those who truly matter. She absorbs every detail around her, storing them for the stories she will one day share with the world.
