As a seasoned gamer with years of Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports experience under my belt, I must say that the BLAST Fall Groups 2024 has been nothing short of exhilarating! The young guns at Team Liquid, particularly Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak and Justin “jks” Savage, have truly shaken up the scene.
In the BLAST Fall Groups 2024’s Group D, we’ve witnessed some thrilling Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports encounters, with many being attributed to Team Liquid’s revamped squad. The young AWPer Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak and the recruitment of Justin “jks” Savage have been key factors in these exciting matches.
In their first game, Team Liquid handed Virtus.pro a decisive defeat. Later, they astounded spectators globally by defeating NAVI in an exhilarating series. Subsequently, NAVI arranged another encounter with Team Liquid in the final match of Group D, following their effortless victory against the German team, BIG.
At the outset of the competition, NAVI was ranked number one, while Team Liquid held position fourteen. On their chosen map, Nuke, it seemed that NAVI aimed to avenge a previous loss, amassing ten rounds as CT during the initial half and ultimately securing victory with a 13-9 score, despite valiant efforts such as a remarkable 4 versus 1 clutch attempt and an ace attempt from Justin “jks” Savage.
As a gamer, I found myself on Anubis, initially struggling against NAVI who were dominating with a 5-0 lead. In an unexpected turn of events, Twistzz managed a remarkable 2v1 clutch, but unfortunately for us, technical troubles hindered our ability to defuse the bomb.
In simpler terms, the newly appointed In-Game Leader of Liquid, Russell “Twistzz” Van Dulken, motivated his team to put up a determined fight in a closely contested map. Thanks to their efforts, Liquid narrowly avoided elimination and managed to stay competitive.
On Inferno, Anubis was pushed to work extra hours due to a powerful resurgence, eventually securing a victory with a score of 16-14, thus bringing the series level at 1-1, with the decisive match now in progress.
In the opening half of Inferno, NAVI took charge with energy, accumulating 9 rounds compared to Liquid’s 3. However, Team Liquid turned the tide in an impressive run, demonstrating exceptional defense and claiming victory on the CT side by a score of 10-1, making it 13-10 overall. When the game was even at 9-9, it was Liquid’s fresh AWPer, Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak, who notched four kills while guarding the B site, giving Liquid the advantage.

With their victory on Inferno map, Liquid managed to overturn NAVI’s initial lead 2-1 in the series, thereby knocking out the top-ranked team and advancing them to the Play-In round.
On the 4th of August, 2024, NAVI will meet Complexity during the Play-In stage of BLAST Fall Groups 2024. The victor advances to the Fall Final, while the vanquished must contend with other competitors in the Fall Showdown, which is already proving to be a challenging event given that FaZe was eliminated prematurely from Group C.
