Lindsay Lohan‘s acting career experienced a significant resurgence due to Netflix, who produced and released three holiday-themed romantic comedies featuring Lohan over a period of three years: “Falling for Christmas” (2022), “Irish Wish” (2024) and “Our Little Secret” (2024). The films benefited greatly from Lohan’s involvement, with each one debuting at the top of Netflix’s film charts. “Our Little Secret” achieved a record-breaking streaming launch for Lohan, racking up 32.4 million views in its opening weekend, making it her most successful Netflix title to date.
Although it could be thought that Lohan’s success on Netflix would prompt her to continue creating films for the streaming service, the actor recently shared in an interview with Elle magazine that her acting ambitions now extend beyond Netflix.
Lohan expressed that she enjoys creating films similar to her Netflix successes – ones that bring joy and unity among viewers. She cherishes movie-making because it allows people to momentarily escape their troubles and find comfort in the belief that everything will be alright. However, she acknowledges that producing such movies can’t last forever and feels it is time to explore new creative directions with Netflix.
Following this, Lindsay Lohan will make her comeback to cinema screens with the much-awaited premiere of “Freakier Friday,” a sequel to the 2003 film of the same name, produced by Disney. The release date is set for August 8 and Lohan, along with original co-star Jamie Lee Curtis, will reprise their roles in this new chapter.
Lohan shared with Elle that the sequel had a relaxed vibe during filming, which is how he describes his feelings while watching it too – effortless yet enjoyable and modern. At present, not much is drawing him to cinemas. However, [Freakier Friday] is a joyful movie, something Lohan aims to share with the audience. And it’s fun! Watching the second edit had him tapping his feet, wanting to dance at the end. He said, “This is cool. I like this tune. I want people to feel that way too.
Following her work on “Falling for Christmas,” Lindsay Lohan secured a two-picture deal with Netflix, ensuring that she would release two projects on their streaming platform in 2024. Although she harbors ambitions to act beyond Netflix productions, Lohan has no intention of leaving the streaming world behind entirely. As previously announced by EbMaster, Lohan is set to star in and produce the Hulu series “Count My Lies,” an adaptation of a novel with the same title. If given the go-ahead, “Count My Lies” will represent Lohan’s debut as the main character in a television show.
