‘Lilo & Stitch,’ ‘Mission: Impossible’ Hold Strong as ‘Ballerina’ Makes Solid Start at U.K., Ireland Box Office

For three weekends in a row, Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” held the number one position at the U.K. and Irish box office. Over this period, it generated £3.5 million (approximately $4.7 million USD) and boosted its overall earnings to £31.1 million ($42 million), as reported by Comscore’s figures.

In the second spot, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” by Paramount continued to perform well, earning $3.1 million over the weekend. Now in its third week of release, the film has accumulated a total of $29 million.

The latest hit movie in frames is titled “From The World of John Wick: Ballerina,” distributed by Lionsgate U.K.. Leading actress Ana de Armas helped it dance to an impressive $1.9 million opening, securing the third spot. Just shy of the top position was “The Salt Path” from Black Bear, earning an additional $1.8 million in its second week, pushing its total to a substantial $5.8 million.

In the box office race, ‘Peppa Meets The Baby Cinema Experience’ from Trafalgar Releasing ranked seventh, earning $663,987, and ‘Clown In A Cornfield’, distributed by Entertainment Film Distributors, came in eighth with a take of $471,944.

Completing the rankings, “The Phoenician Scheme” by Universal earned an additional $392,612 in its third week, bringing its total earnings to $3.4 million. Meanwhile, DJ Tech LTD’s “Thug Life” debuted with $347,306, securing the tenth position.

This week, a diverse range of fresh movies from studios, re-runs, and independent productions will hit the big screens in both the United Kingdom and Ireland.

One of the most highly anticipated releases includes Universal’s live action adaptation of “How to Train Your Dragon,” the much-loved 2010 animated hit. Lionsgate U.K. is presenting the samurai-themed action drama, “Tornado.” Meanwhile, MetFilm Distribution is debuting “Lollipop,” a British social-realist film directed by Daisy-May Hudson, featuring stars Posy Sterling and Idil Ahmed. This movie will be shown in over 100 locations nationwide.

Icon Film Distribution has two films slated for release. The first one is “Juliet & Romeo,” a modern musical adaptation, helmed by director Timothy Scott Bogart, which features Rebel Wilson, Jason Isaacs, Clara Rugaard, and Rupert Everett and premieres on Wednesday. Towards the end of the week, Icon will also release the romantic comedy “Jane Austen Wrecked My Life,” directed by Laura Piani and starring Camille Rutherford and Pablo Pauly.

In the world of Indian cinema, Dreamz Entertainment debuts the Telugu-language film “Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1,” starring Pawan Kalyan, while Zee Studios International unveils “Daakuaan Da Munda 3” for Punjabi-speaking audiences in the U.K.

Firstly, “Love & Rage: Munroe Bergdorf,” a documentary distributed by Cinematik, will be available in over 25 venues starting from Tuesday.
