‘Life in Six Strings,’ Featuring Motley Crue’s Mick Mars, Def Leppard’s Phil Collen and Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt, Acquired by DCD Rights (EXCLUSIVE)

As a music enthusiast who has always been captivated by the stories behind the music and the artists themselves, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming series “Life in Six Strings With Kylie Olsson.” The concept of delving into the lives of iconic guitarists like Mick Mars, Phil Collen, and Nuno Bettencourt, among others, is simply mesmerizing.

UK-based distributor DCD Rights has picked up the rights for a new music program titled “Life in Six Strings with Kylie Olsson,” set to debut at the upcoming TV market, Mipcom, within the next week.

In this eight-episode series, which is known for being both humorous and enlightening, LISS Films serves as the producer. The series follows TV host and music aficionado Kylie Olsson as she delves into the personal spaces of renowned guitarists across the globe, including Mick Mars from Motley Crue, Phil Collen from Def Leppard, and Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme, among others.

Olsson has interviewed numerous bands from around the world, but during the pandemic’s lockdown, she decided to learn playing the guitar on her own by starting a YouTube channel. She reached out to several renowned guitarists she knew for guidance and advice, which eventually led to the conception of “Life in Six Strings”.

Every week, I immerse myself in the rich world of a renowned musician, exploring their vast collection of guitars and favorite haunts – venues that sparked their creativity and nurtured their skills.

The statement expressed that this series goes beyond just the music. It showcases the passion, devotion, and artistic talent of these renowned artists, providing viewers with a unique perspective to see these living icons in an entirely fresh manner.

Through their deep passion for music, particularly the guitar, and by showcasing their origins, both sonically and geographically, these artists shape their unique sound. This approach offers a less-seen aspect of the artists, focusing on their personal identities, enabling them to narrate their stories in their own voices.

Notable guitar virtuosos like Joe Bonamassa, Grace Potter, Steve Vai, Tyler Bryant, and Charlie Starr are also showcased.

Prior to Mipcom, DCD Rights has also disclosed several more deals for recently introduced music content. For instance, the heartwarming holiday special “Christmas at Graceland” was secured by Czech TV, HRT Croatia, TV2 Denmark, Globo Brazil, and SBS Australia. Additionally, SBS Australia acquired “Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision” for NITV and “Chicago & Friends Live at 55” for SBS On Demand. Furthermore, the fourth season of “The Great Songwriters” has been sold to additional broadcasters such as Sky New Zealand, Globo Brazil, and Atoss International Japan.

James Anderson, DCD Rights’ sales manager, stated, “For over three decades, music has been a fundamental aspect of who we are at DCD Rights. We’re excited to keep adding exceptional titles that appeal to broadcasters worldwide. Ahead of Mipcom, we’re proud to reveal additional sales and eagerly anticipate sharing Kylie Olsson’s deeply emotional and intelligent documentary with our global clients.
