The forthcoming “Naked Gun” remake left fans astonished upon release of its first sneak peek, as it emerged as a legacy sequel featuring Liam Neeson as the son of Leslie Nielsen’s character Frank Drebin, and Paul Walter Houser taking on the role of George Kennedy’s Ed Hocken’s offspring. Now, the comedy’s official trailer has hit screens worldwide, offering non-stop laughter from start to end, with Pamela Anderson and professional wrestler Cody Rhodes providing some of the funniest moments among an impressive cast.

I was one of many enthusiastic “Naked Gun” fans who couldn’t hide their excitement when Pamela Anderson was cast in the upcoming 2025 movie. The trailer, shown below, lives up to that excitement by featuring two scenes that suggest she will do a great job as the female lead, following in the impressive footsteps of Priscilla Presley from the original trilogy.

Among numerous scenes worthy of attention in the entire video, I’d like to highlight a few funny bits that particularly tickled my funny bone.

1. Beth “Taking A Chair”

This instance is the epitome of cringe-worthy puns.]

  • Frank: Please, take a chair.
  • Beth: Thank you. [Loudly drags chair out of room and down the hall]

A comparison: It’s as funny as a doctor instructing, “Walk this way,” and being met with the response, “If I could walk like that, I wouldn’t need your help.” Laughing at such humor comes more naturally to me than finding amusement in Frank fretting about needing to use the bathroom while wearing a body-cam.

2. Beth “Cleaning Frank’s Oven”

One of the distinctive features of the Naked Gun films lies in their abundance of bawdy humor, particularly around sexual topics. The original trilogy is no exception to this rule, and when Akiva Schaeffer rebooted it, he didn’t forget to pay homage to this aspect with a trailer that left fans chuckling – or rather, using heat vision. The moment when Beth, played by Anderson, was shown cleaning a kitchen appliance instead of orally servicing Frank, was almost as groan-inducing as the earlier chair gag. However, in the best possible way, it managed to bring back memories of those classic jokes.

3. Cody Rhodes’ Face Gets Rearranged

Just as I find wordplay consistently amusing, I’m equally captivated by quick, visual jokes such as Cody Rhodes’ dialogue-free cameo in the trailer. He appears completely normal when Frank grabs his face, but once it’s slammed onto the bar, suddenly his nose is all squished, and his eyebrows seem flatter and bushier.

I enjoy the casual humor in movies like this, it’s exactly what I look forward to. Plus, I can’t help but appreciate the unique facial prosthetics used.

4. Spirit Halloween Snatching Up Space

Let’s express our affection for our fellow actor Paul Walter Hauser too, though it wasn’t the most naturally humorous aspect of the image suggesting an instant opening of a Spirit Halloween store inside the old Police Squad building.

Among all the jokes in the trailer, the one about O.J. Simpson and the actor portraying Fred Nordberg’s son stands out as particularly relevant. I can’t help but ponder if they might have any O.J.-themed costumes available at their Halloween store this year.

The film ‘The Naked Gun’ will be released in theaters on August 1, 2025. However, don’t plan on running into franchise co-creator David Zucker in the theater as he has publicly criticized this new movie and declined an offer for a producer credit.
