Liam Hemsworth Was A Fan Of The Witcher 3 Before He Was Cast As Geralt

As a devoted fan of both The Witcher saga and exceptional performances, I am thrilled about Liam Hemsworth stepping into the role of Geralt of Rivia. His familiarity with the character and world through The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, coupled with his dedication to immerse himself in the source material by reading the books and watching previous seasons, speaks volumes about his commitment to delivering a compelling portrayal.

Approximately two years ago, there was news that Henry Cavill would no longer be portraying Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher after Season 3, with Liam Hemsworth being announced as his replacement. Interestingly, Hemsworth wasn’t a viewer of the series before joining it, but he was well-acquainted with the character and his universe due to playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

During his interview on Live with Kelly and Mark, Hemsworth shared that he hadn’t watched the TV series or read the books, but he had played the video game around a decade back. Despite this gap in time, he still considers it one of the best games ever made. Approximately two years ago, Netflix approached him to play the character, which he was thrilled about because he was already a fan of the game.

Yet, Hemsworth admitted that he didn’t commit to appearing on the show until after he revisited past seasons and delved into the original books by Andrzej Sapkowski. Last year, Hemsworth confessed that he had been engrossed in reading the books as part of his preparations for portraying the character.

Actor Hemsworth has been granted the opportunity to portray Geralt for two more seasons, as Netflix has already renewed The Witcher series for a fifth and final season ahead of time. Back in production start-up for the fourth season, Netflix shared a sneak peek of Hemsworth’s Geralt. The fourth season of The Witcher is expected to air in 2025, though an exact release date has yet to be announced.
