As a seasoned cinephile with over three decades of experiencing the rollercoaster ride that is the music industry, I must admit, I found the Weekend Update sketch about Liam Gallagher and his brother on Saturday Night Live to be an amusing take on their infamous feud. Having followed their tumultuous relationship since the days of Britpop, I can’t help but chuckle at the comedic twists and turns that the writers have managed to weave into their sketch.
On last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live, Liam Gallagher appeared less than amused by the Weekend Update sketch featuring him and his brother Noel. The skit, starring Sarah Sherman as Liam and James Austin as Noel, poked fun at their long-standing feud and the recent announcement of an Oasis reunion tour. The sketch humorously suggested that the feud began when Liam claimed Noel had a “crooked knob,” and that they made up when they discovered they both shared a favorite Sex and the City boyfriend (Steve). In response to the skit, or perhaps just for a bit of fun on Twitter, Gallagher tweeted “I see the LIARS are at it again, have a day off you BUMBACLARTS.” When asked if he’d watched the Update piece, Gallagher responded “Are they supposed to be comedians?” As far as Liam Gallagher comebacks go, this one was pretty mild.
