Leon Kennedy returns in Resident Evil Requiem after surprise cover art leak

For months, Resident Evil fans have been eager to find out if Leon S. Kennedy would be in Resident Evil Requiem. The answer is yes – he’s a main character, featured prominently on the game’s cover!

On December 9th, as the standard edition became available for pre-download on PlayStation 5, players noticed updated cover art. The new artwork features Leon S. Kennedy standing in the rain, looking older and more rugged, with the longer hair and tougher appearance he’s had in recent Resident Evil games.

FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, the lead investigator in the game, is standing before him, assigned to look into the strange deaths occurring at a hotel. IGN has confirmed the artwork is real, meaning the famous zombie hunter will appear in Resident Evil Requiem.

Leon S. Kennedy returns in Resident Evil Requiem

Capcom planned to unveil a fresh look at Resident Evil Requiem at The Game Awards on December 11th. However, images of Leon Kennedy’s return appeared online ahead of schedule through a game preload screen, partially spoiling the surprise.

This new finding has really energized fans, particularly because the initial promotion heavily featured Grace Ashcroft, who is new to the series.

Capcom hasn’t revealed much about Leon’s part in the story yet, but the game focuses on Grace as she faces a new danger. So far, they’ve described it as a story-focused survival horror game made for modern consoles and PCs, and it will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Capcom plans to release Resident Evil Requiem in 2025. They’ll be sharing more details throughout the year, beginning with a significant reveal at The Game Awards.
