A 57-year-old man from Canada was arrested and charged with assault after a disagreement led him to blow snow at someone else.
The holidays are usually a time for joy and goodwill, when people are friendlier to each other. But this year in Canada, some people seem determined to spoil the festive spirit even before Christmas officially begins.
Brantford, Ontario police received a complaint at the beginning of the month when a resident displayed signs claiming Santa Claus wasn’t real during the town’s Christmas parade. The resident was asked to remove the signs.
Being a bit of a Scrooge isn’t against the law, but we hope everyone will get into the holiday spirit and help create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere, particularly during events like the Santa Claus Parade.
Man arrested over blowing snow at victim
In Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, 57-year-old Christopher Wright was arrested for assault after hitting someone with snow blown from a snow blower.
According to the Sault Ste. Marie Police, Wright and the victim had a disagreement on December 6th, after which Wright deliberately used a snow blower to spray snow at the victim.
Police arrested Wright around 9 am on December 7th. Fortunately, the victim wasn’t hurt, even though snow had been thrown at them.

The 57-year-old is scheduled to appear in court on February 9, 2026, on the assault charge.
If Wright is convicted after a trial, he could be sentenced to up to five years in prison. However, if the case is handled more quickly through a summary conviction, he could face a fine of up to $5,000, or a jail sentence of up to six months – or both.
