90’s themed LEGO building contest winners, Wallace & Gromit and The X-Files, will now be produced as official LEGO sets following the announcement.
On June 25th, not long after LEGO approved a fan-designed Godzilla set, the toy building firm announced that fan-created sets based on Wallace & Gromit and The X-Files would soon be available for purchase.
This news is fantastic for enthusiasts of Aardman’s iconic claymation comedy series, Wallace & Gromit. Science fiction aficionados will also rejoice at the arrival of an official X-Files collection, a perfect addition to LEGO’s acclaimed Star Wars and Avatar sets.
For fans of Aardman’s timeless claymation comedy series, Wallace & Gromit, this news is terrific. Science fiction lovers can now look forward to owning an official X-Files set, which will seamlessly complement LEGO’s bestselling Star Wars and Avatar sets.
The victorious duo outperformed 268 other submissions and are now set to go through LEGO’s production assessment, a process that will eventually materialize them piece by piece.
LEGO Wallace & Gromit and The X-Files sets revealed
Getting started is the Wallace & Gromit collection, which replicates their famous red motorcycle initially seen in A Grand Day Out. The set features Wallace’s distinctive toothy grin and blue work outfit, while Gromit’s oversized snout and sidecar completes the ensemble, bringing the duo to life once more.
Although no mini figures representing the duo have been announced yet, the detailed replica manages to beautifully emulate the charm of the original stop-motion personalities. Interestingly, the structure appears rather substantial even though it falls within the 200-1000 piece construction range.
To conclude, The X-Files: The Truth Is Out There collection offers a remarkably detailed replica of Mulder’s basement office. As you can tell, it’s brimming with Easter Eggs, case files, and the famous “I Want to Believe” poster.
WetWired’s unique layout encompasses an entire UFO setting and six figurines, including Mulder, Scully, Skinner, and the iconic Grey alien. Contrasting with the LEGO Wallace & Gromit collection that requires between 200 to 1000 components, the X-Files set is constructed with approximately 2,020 pieces. Hence, it’s expected to take a bit longer to assemble.
Although the cost and dimensions haven’t been disclosed yet, expect further updates when LEGO’s design team has completed their work on the final product design.
