Lego Is Going Back To The ’90s With These X-Files And Wallace & Gromit Sets

Lego has unveiled the upcoming sets, which are the brainchild of fan designers who contributed to its Ideas program. These new releases feature beloved FBI agents from The X-Files, iconic moments from an unforgettable Simpsons episode involving a stolen whale storyline, and Wallace & Gromit.

From among the entries submitted to the Lego Ideas “Revisit the ’90s: A Nostalgic Tribute” competition, these two designs were selected. This competition asked designers to capture the spirit of the ’90s with their unique creations. Although the first Wallace & Gromit short aired in 1989, we’re focusing on the two shorts that were made during the ’90s. The X-Files embodies everything that was iconic about the ’90s, much like ripped jeans and grunge music. In due time, these two sets will join a miniature version of Godzilla.

The X-Files set was crafted by WetWired, showcasing FBI agents Mulder and Scully within a forest scene, complete with a UFO spacecraft, an alien, and a replica of Mulder’s famous office. The truth, it seems, lies hidden up above! Additionally, you’ll find a few extra minifigures in this collection, such as FBI assistant director Skinner, the infamous Jersey Devil, and Eugene Tooms from the episodes that kept us awake at night.

In the creation by Pidelium, known as the Wallace & Gromit submission, they’ve constructed a miniature replica of the renowned British inventor and his faithful dog using bricks. This miniature scene is inspired by the short film “A Close Shave” from 1995. It showcases the duo, their motorbike, and the tools they use in their window-cleaning enterprise. However, no cheese is present in this setup.

Just a heads-up, there may be differences between the fan designs and the actual products once they hit the shelves. You’ll have to wait a bit until they become available for purchase. If you’re itching to spend some money on Lego goodies right away, consider buying some recently released sets instead. For instance, you could get this charming replica of Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon or any of the Donkey Kong sets, which are now back in stock at Amazon.
