LEGO Game Boy set brings back Nintendo nostalgia for just $60

LEGO is unveiling its upcoming partnership with Nintendo: a full-size replica of the classic Game Boy, which is now available for pre-orders.

LEGO and Nintendo are joining forces again, recreating one of the most legendary handheld consoles ever made in brick form. The classic Game Boy is being given a lifelike LEGO replica, featuring cartridges, interchangeable screens, and working buttons. Announced on January 9, 2025, this set will be shipped on October 1 and can now be pre-ordered.

The LEGO Game Boy is priced at $59.99 USD (equivalent to £54.99/€59.99), becoming the latest addition to a growing collection of sets inspired by nostalgic gaming experiences, targeted towards adults who appreciate retro gaming. This release coincides with other noteworthy launches in 2021, such as LEGO’s first Godzilla construction set and the much-anticipated Wallace & Gromit set, both of which have garnered significant support from LEGO enthusiasts.

Lego Game Boy pre-orders are now live

This 421-piece LEGO creation beautifully replicates the classic Game Boy console by Nintendo. It features miniature brick-built renditions of popular games such as Super Mario Land and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, which can be securely placed in a functional cartridge slot.

Alternatively, builders have the option to switch among three lenticular screens displaying either the iconic startup logo or gameplay scenes from different titles. Every significant physical aspect is accurately replicated, ranging from the A and B buttons to the volume control knob and contrast adjustment wheel. Additionally, this setup employs printed tiles rather than stickers, maintaining its original appearance and tactile experience.

This Game Boy LEGO set comes with a display stand, making it ideal for collectors. With a small number of pieces and an affordable price, it’s already looking like one of the most budget-friendly Nintendo collaborations from LEGO so far. You can pre-order it now on LEGO’s website or at participating retailers before its scheduled release in October.
