Tom Burke (“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” “The Souvenir”) and Steve Coogan (“Philomena,” “The Reckoning”) are part of an impressive roster of British actors set to appear in the upcoming Netflix thriller show titled “Legend.
Developed and scripted by Neil Forsyth (known for “The Gold” and “Guilt”), this series is loosely based on actual investigations involving a team of British Customs agents who posed as undercover operatives to penetrate some of the United Kingdom’s deadliest drug cartels.
Additionally, Hayley Squires (known for “Beau Is Afraid” and “I, Daniel Blake”), Aml Ameen (“A Man in Full” and “Rustin”), Jasmine Blackborow (“The Gentlemen” and “Marie Antoinette”), Douglas Hodge (“G20” and “Joker”), Tom Hughes (“The English” and “Victoria”), Johnny Harris (“A Gentleman in Moscow” and “Great Expectations”), Gerald Kyd (“The Assassin” and “Love Rat”), and Charlotte Ritchie (“You” and “Ghosts”) are also part of the ensemble.
The story “Legend” unfolds during the early ’90s, a time when Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise were struggling to curb illegal drug trafficking across Britain’s borders. Their innovative approach involved deploying a group of employees undercover. As per the plot summary: “These weren’t seasoned spies; they were everyday people from various parts of the UK, given basic training, and assigned with creating new personas within the criminal underworld. These personas were known as ‘Legends.’
In this project, Charlie Leech (“The Gold,” “Lovesick”) is appointed as the series producer. The executive producers will be Ben Farrell (“The Gold,” “Feel Good”), Neil Forsyth from Tannadice, and Richard Bradley for Lion Television.
