As a longtime enthusiast, I’m thrilled to see the legendary Street Fighter movie taking shape with the official casting of Chun-Li, the undisputed queen of combat in the gaming world.

Initially unveiled in April 2023, the legendary fighting game “Street Fighter” by Capcom is now preparing for a second round in cinemas. The popular intellectual property of the game has been selected for adaptation by Legendary Pictures.

Over the past two years, the ‘Talk to Me’ directors, Danny and Michael Philippou, were initially involved but later detached themselves from the project. Now, Kitao Sakurai, known for his work on Bad Trip, is slated to take over as director.

Ever since that announcement, there’s been a whirlwind of conversations about who might take on the roles in this action-packed film. I’ve heard rumors of Noah Centineo from “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” possibly playing Ken, and Andrew Koji from “Bullet Train” being considered for Ryu. Some sources even mention Jason Momoa and Roman Reigns as potential contenders for the roles!

According to a report by Deadline published on June 23, 2025, Liang will take the role of Chun-Li in Legendary’s movie version of Street Fighter.
