Legendary Director Wants To Revisit Cult-Classic Game

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but get excited at the prospect of a potential killer7 sequel or complete edition. The original game was a breath of fresh air when it first released back in 2005, and its unique blend of action, adventure, and political intrigue has stayed with me ever since.

As a die-hard fan, I’d love to express my excitement over Japanese director Suda51’s desire to return to the killer7 universe someday! Whether it’s through a polished, definitive re-release, a thrilling sequel, or perhaps even a combination of both, I can hardly wait to see what fresh, mind-bending twists and turns he has in store for us.

During the second Grasshopper Direct 2024 event, Goichi “Suda51” Suda and Shinji Mikami offered a sneak peek into the development process for Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. Towards the end of the video, they were asked about their future projects. Mikami expressed his hope that Suda51 would develop a sequel to killer7, but Suda51 mentioned his preference for releasing a comprehensive edition of the game before considering a sequel.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been pondering about the potential return of my favorite game, killer7. While the creator hasn’t explicitly confirmed a sequel, he’s tossed around some intriguing ideas like “killer11,” “killer7-something,” or even “killer7: Beyond.” Initially hesitant about a complete edition, the creator later admitted it could be feasible and fans would likely embrace it. Suda51 ended our discussion by suggesting they need to decide whether we’ll get the complete edition first or if a sequel will come before that. Fingers crossed for more killer7 action!

As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but share the excitement from Shinji Mikami about a potential Killer7 sequel or complete edition from Suda51. However, it seems Suda is focusing on delivering a complete edition first before we possibly see Killer11 or maybe even a revised version of Killer7…something along those lines.

Initially launched on Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2 back in 2005, the game killer7 made its way to PC systems in 2018. In our review of killer7, TopMob described it as “one of the most unique, politically charged, and intellectually stimulating video games since Metal Gear Solid.”

The recently unveiled project by Grasshopper, titled Shadows of the Damned: Remastered, is set to debut on October 31 across various platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. In a recent interview, Suda51 hinted that if the remaster gains sufficient popularity, there might be plans for a sequel. Should an enhanced edition of killer7 also meet the same success, a follow-up could potentially materialize too.
