At last, it’s clear who has been cast for the main characters in Nintendo’s forthcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda film.
On July 16, 2025, Nintendo revealed through Shigeru Miyamoto that Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Answorth have been cast to portray Zelda and Link respectively in an upcoming film.
To start, allow me to introduce Miyamoto. He’s excited to share that for the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, Bo Bragason will portray Zelda, and Benjamin Evan Answorth will bring Link to life. I can hardly wait to witness their performances on the silver screen.

When is the Legend of Zelda movie coming out?
On May 7, 2027, you’ll find the long-awaited live-action Legend of Zelda film in theaters! According to Nintendo’s recent casting news, they expressed gratitude to fans for their patience while the movie gets ready for release.
The selection of the main characters indicates that the movie based on the well-known video game is about to start filming shortly. Wes Ball will be in charge of directing this forthcoming adaptation.
Wes Ball, who has been widely recognized for his work on the Maze Runner film series, where he served as director and even produced the last two installments, also helmed the direction of “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” in 2024.
The rising talents of Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Answorth are making waves, with Bragason initially garnering recognition for her performances in the BBC One series Three Girls and The Jetty.
Furthermore, Bragason is known for her role in the Disney+ series “Renegade Nell.” Other notable roles include those in “Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV,” “Censor,” and “The Radleys.
Answorth became widely recognized for his performance in The Haunting of Bly Manor. Additionally, he has been part of various Disney productions, such as Flora & Ulysses and Pinocchio, where he lent his voice to the character who shares the title.
