As a die-hard movie fan, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming “Legally Blonde” prequel on Amazon Prime Video has just brought in Tom Everett Scott as a main cast member! I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for any updates, and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint. Can’t wait to see what he brings to the table!
In the upcoming series, Scott will star alongside leading actress Lexi Minetree and June Diane Raphael. As previously mentioned, the show focuses on Elle Woods (Minetree) during her high school years. Following the official description, it delves into the life events that molded her into the beloved character we met in the original ‘Legally Blonde’ movie.
Scott will play Wyatt, Elle’s dad. Raphael will star as Eva, Elle’s mom.
As a dedicated cinephile, I can’t help but appreciate the fact that Scott continues to thrive in the world of streaming, especially on Prime Video, where he currently graces our screens in the beloved YA series “The Summer I Turned Pretty.” This popular series is coming to an end with its third season. Besides this, Scott has made a name for himself in various other shows like “I’m Sorry,” “13 Reasons Why,” “Southland,” “Scream,” and “Reign.” His breakthrough role was undeniably in the cult classic film “That Thing You Do,” and since then, he’s graced our movie screens in productions such as “Dead Man on Campus,” “Boiler Room,” “La La Land,” and “Clouds.
He is repped by Gersh and John Carrabino Management.
The series titled “Elle” was initially given the go-ahead by Amazon in May 2024. Laura Kittrell is its creator and serves as both co-showrunner and executive producer, working alongside Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Hello Sunshine, Marc Platt are also executive producers. Jason Moore will direct the first two episodes, while Amazon MGM Studios will handle production.
The original “Legally Blonde” movie, released in 2001, was a significant hit at the box office, generating more than $140 million worldwide. Its sequel, “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde,” followed in 2003. A third film, not for theaters but straight-to-video, arrived in 2009; Reese Witherspoon did not appear in this one, but she was involved as a producer. A stage musical adaptation of the first movie premiered on Broadway in 2007 and received several Tony and Drama Desk nominations.
