Legal Issue Preventing Vampire Survivors From Getting Cross-Save On PlayStation Consoles

This month brings a free upgrade for Vampire Survivors, which will introduce cross-saving functionality on both PC and Xbox platforms. Unfortunately, PlayStation users won’t get this feature because the developer, Poncle, has encountered a legal obstacle that prevents them from including cross-save support for PS4 and PS5 in the current update.

Unfortunately, we have to inform you that the cross-save feature for Vampire Survivors won’t be included in the next update on PlayStation 4 and 5. Poncle mentioned this on the game’s official account in a recent post. Earlier, we had announced that cross-save would be introduced on PlayStation 4 and 5, PC, Xbox, Android, and iOS with our free Vampire Survivors update in April. However, at the last moment, we encountered an unexpected legal issue specific to PlayStation which we were previously unaware of, preventing us from disclosing certain partner-related information.

Although PlayStation cross-save functionality isn’t completely off the table, Poncle admitted that the likelihood of its implementation on consoles is currently “thin”. However, they are focusing on resolving compatibility issues with PlayStation at present. The update will initially be rolled out for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms, followed by Nintendo Switch at a later time. If feasible without violating privacy agreements, the Apple Arcade edition of Vampire Survivors might also receive this update.

Regarding further information about the update, Poncle hints that it will be the largest one yet for the game, with additional details set to be unveiled on April 10 during the Triple-I Initiative. The previous year was filled with activity for the game, as it debuted on both PS4 and PS5, introduced a new expansion in the shape of the expansive Ode to Castlevania, and made an appearance in the popular game Balatro as a guest DLC character.

A formal guidebook for Vampire Survivors, titled “The Vampire Survivors Grimoire,” has been unveiled! If this intrigues you, consider pre-ordering it on Amazon for around $30 before its scheduled launch on October 21st.
