It’s no longer a secret among gamers in 2025 that an Oblivion Remastered announcement could be coming soon, as more and more hints have emerged to support this theory.
After the screenshots of the remaster, which were later taken down, appeared on developer Virtuos’ site on April 15, doubts about its existence began to fade rapidly. Instead, the possibility of a secret release, or “shadow drop,” became more plausible than ever before.
It’s worth noting that although there have been discussions about a remastered version of Cyrodiil with enhanced graphics, Bethesda, the creator of the series, and its parent company, Microsoft, haven’t officially confirmed this yet.
It turns out that by an unexpected twist of events, another error has solidified the remaster’s reality. This time, the origin of the leak was traced back to Microsoft’s very own Bing search engine.
Oblivion Remastered indexed by Bing
Initially, a user from the Oblivion subreddit noticed something interesting on April 20th. If you perform a particular search on Bing, numerous links related to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered appear, which seem to be hosted on Virtuos’ official website.
Currently, you can duplicate the process effortlessly by typing ‘oblivion site:https://www.virtuosgames.com’ directly into the search bar of Bing.

It’s not surprising when you click any of the links, each directing to the same page in different languages, you encounter a ‘404 Error: Page Not Found’. The fact that the listings were intentionally taken down yet they remain visible suggests quite clearly that something unusual is occurring here.
Incidentally, it’s important to mention that clicking on the URL subcategory directs you to “success stories.” At present, only one project is showcased on this active page – the War for Wakanda Black Panther expansion for Crystal Dynamics’ discontinued Marvel’s Avengers game.
According to recent gossip, it seems likely that an updated version of Oblivion will be released unexpectedly starting from the week of April 21. This means dedicated fans might only have a few days left before they can finally explore Skyrim’s precursor in its fully remastered splendor.
