League of Legends Live-Action Series Coming in 2025

In simpler terms, Vietnam’s Minister responsible for Culture, Sports, and Tourism had discussions with senior officials from Riot Games and a film team about organizing the production of a nine-episode live-action television show.

Following the achievement of Arcane, discussions arose regarding the future direction of League of Legends as a media franchise. Notably, Riot Games has confirmed plans for additional television series.

Surprisingly, the next journey within the League of Legends universe will depart from animated realms and delve into live-action storytelling instead.

The Vietnamese authorities have held talks with Riot Games, expressing their enthusiasm about potentially setting up a production site. Although the details are yet to be finalized, they hope to start filming towards the end of 2025.

League of Legends is getting a live-action TV series

The Vietnamese government officially announced via a Facebook post that Minister Nguyen Van Hung had held a meeting with Riot Games and a film crew who were scouting locations, as stated in the post.

There’s a lot more discussion needed regarding our team adhering to Vietnamese environmental conservation and safety laws and regulations, however, Riot has already identified a particular location they are keen on.

Our team is planning to shoot footage at Cát Bà, a beautiful archipelago boasting 367 islands off Vietnam’s southeastern shoreline. Given its stunning landscapes and crystal-clear waters, it seems that either Bilgewater or the Shadow Isles could be plausible filming locations.

For the upcoming project, renowned talent like Rose Lam is joining the team, taking up the role of a producer. She’s known for her production work on hit shows such as The Last of Us TV series, which stands among the most successful adaptations of video games ever made.

It’s still uncertain where exactly the TV series set in the League of Legends universe will be filmed. However, if we were making a pirate-themed show, an archipelago like Bilgewater could serve as an ideal location.

Given that the production for this show won’t begin until late 2025, it’s likely we won’t get to see it soon. But this indicates that Riot Games is determined to continue investing heavily in growing the League of Legends universe.

Additionally, the studio is developing a combat-style game based on League of Legends, titled 2XKO. This game aims to introduce familiar characters from the series into an entirely novel battlefield.
